A couple of people have ask me, "RBG what is going through your head when you are building RBG Street Scholars Think Tank ?--And I answer--honor & respect of the legacy of the scholars, revolutionaries and educators that have come before me, Liberation By Way Of Proper Education and telling the truth....Nonetheless, I remain cautiously optimistic about our fate as an Afrikan peoples based on what I see everyday...That's the reason I keep on fighting and we must keep fighting. Ward Churchill's courage, scholarship and Spirit of Fight encourages me with much of my truth telling energy. He's one of my living models of academic excellence and an unapologetic speaker of truth to power; I recommend studying him well.
In that pursuit I think you will find this sequence to be a very potent one, as it gives us a very clear idea and overstanding what one finds one self up against when being committed to telling the truth amongest the "higher ups"...Dr. Ward Churchill, for me, is one of the greatest scholars living and clearest I've ever studied.

The firing on July 24, 2007 of University of Colorado ethnic studies professor Ward Churchill on charges of historical fabrication and falsification must be opposed by all of us who are defenders of truth and struggle via intellectual discourse.

Dr. Churchill , at the time of this lecture, was a Professor of American Indian ... Studies and former Chair of the Ethnic Studies Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he was worked since 1978, and is on the leadership council of the American Indian Movement of Colorado. He has authored, co-authored or edited more than 20 books, including A Little Matter of Genocide: Holocaust and Denial in the Americas, 1492 to the Present; Acts of Rebellion: The Ward Churchill Reader; and Agents of Repression: The FBI's Secret Wars Against the Black Panther Pary and the American Indian Movement. He has received numerous writing and teaching awards and, as of 2001, was the most cited scholar in his field. In 2004 Professor Churchill was named runner-up for the Gustavus Myers Award of Best Writing on Human Rights for On the Justice of Roosting of Roosting Chickens: Reflections on the Consequences of U.S. Imperial Arrogance and Criminality and was inducted into the Martin Luther King Collegium of Scholars.

Ward Churchill speaks to CU Journalism Class

I like Ward Churchill.

When he walked into my journalism class on Wednesday I could smell fire from a mile away.

Churchill’s crisp white shirt matched the white stripes in his hair, just as everything I knew about him up until meeting him was perfectly matched by his swagger.

Ward came to talk about his rather abusive relationship with the media throughout the past three years. Needless to say, he had a lot to articulate.

Enhanced by his mischievous smile and the witty banter to back it up, listening to Churchill talk was like taking part in a duel, except you forgot your arsenal. Every word from his clearly well equipped artillery is sharpened like a knife.

My mother would call him a smartass–a tall, highly publicized and irrefutable smartass. But isn’t that why we love him? That’s certainly part of it.
